Retrospective
The purpose of a retrospective is for the team to share thoughts and feedback about the past sprint. This will help identify any pain points and create actionable items to remediate until the team comes back together on progress of the action items. This ceremony occurs at the end of each sprint and is attended by the whole team.
Outcome:
• To increase quality and effectiveness moving forward as a team
• Review current practices of the team and determine if it is working well or needs to be improved
• Helps SM, PO, and TL understand better if one is feeling burnt out, not delivering intent in a timely manner, exceling, etc
- Amigos meeting will occur to help identify ways to work with each developer, if needed
Template of Conversation:
• What went well in the past sprint?
• What did not go well in the past sprint?
• What are some areas of improvement that the team can work on until we meet again? - Action Item is created
Best Practices:
• Encourage the whole team to attend and participate - this is the only way for the SM to understand what ways she can help to remediate any issues or provide insight/resources
• Have fun! - this is the time for all team members to speak up but also enjoy the conversation
• Keep each other accountable especially when action items have been decided
- Ensure this is documented somewhere (source of truth) and review often
